Good News: Flu Shot About 50% Effective

Getting the flu shot helped Americans stay healthy this winter season.

It failed to work against some strains of the virus, of course.

The CDC say the 2019-20 flu vaccine reduced doctor visits associated with the virus by 45% overall.

That includes a drop of 55% in children, according to UPI.

These figures are consistent with estimates of flu vaccine effectiveness from past seasons.

Most typically range from 40% to 60%, the CDC report noted.
